Vision Statement
Our vision is to create a welcoming environment that invites people into worship, fellowship, Christian education and service to the Lord; to increase our outreach to the community, and the world through faith, prayer, and stewardship; and to expand our programs that will develop and nurture disciples who go out and share God’s love.

Stewardship Pledges, Contribution Statements,
and Local Offerings Explained
In 2009, individuals making a pledge were given two options when they filled out pledge cards: General Fund or Building Fund. Contributions made during the year using the white or pink envelopes or by check were then matched with those pledges. The 2009 contribution statements recap your pledges and the contributions to those funds, as well as any other contributions of record made during the year. The monkey-wrench in the system is the “local” fund offerings. Those of you that are making your contributions as “local” probably have noticed that your 2009 pledge to the general fund shows a shortfall, by the amount that you designated to the local fund instead of the general fund.
Unfortunately, there is no way for the record-keeping software to combine these two funds for pledge tracking purposes. So, you must do the math yourself and add the contributions to general fund and local fund to reach the total that should be applied towards your pledge. If you have questions about this, or would like additional clarification of your contribution statement, please call me and I will gladly assist you. My home telephone number is 855-7681.

Local Offering: Poll Results |
|
| |
If you have been making contributions to the “local “ fund, then this is of special interest to you. After the lively discussion at our December meeting, I polled all the families that had made a contribution of record to the “local” fund. The majority of respondents (79%) indicated that they wanted a portion of their donation to support a local charity.
I shared this information with the Council, and we determined that 10% of the amount donated to the restricted “local” fund will be given to the community food bank.
For January 2010, this amounted to $662 to help feed the hungry right here in our community. The rest of the “local” donation is used to support operations here at Mount Olive, with no portion going to the Grand Canyon Synod or the ELCA. |

The Property Board has done some
research regarding replacing the carpet in the Parish Center with tile or wood however, the Council along with the Property Board has decided to keep the carpet and have it cleaned.
Suzanne Waldron has been hired as a Visitation Minister with great results for February, Suzanne was very well received by all contacted. Great work Suzanne.
A job description has been written by the Personnel Committee and approved by the Council for a Sunday School Superintendent and we are advertising for the position. If you know anyone who would be interested in this job, please have them contact Brenda Naugle at 453-7480 or cell 230-1294, or any member of the Personnel Committee.
We are going to withhold any contributions to the Respite House for the present until we get a status report from the Interagency Council. Rebecca Pehling who replaced Mike Cummings on the Council has agreed to take over liaison with the Respite House and will contact Richard Miers with the Interagency Council to determine the status of the Respite House.
If you would like to serve on a Call Committee for an Associate Pastor please contact Pastor Jim Price. It will probably be a year long process, step up and sign up thanks.
The Stewardship Committee with Pastor Jim has done a fantastic job on our stewardship drive with excellent results. The response from you has really been great, we still have letters to send out to those who we did not reach in church, but even with that, the response from all was so great the outcome was much better than we could have expected. The Pastor from Grace Lutheran in Kingman, Pastor Ray Christenson was absolutely excellent, I think he really helped put us over the top with his sermon.
As a side note Pastor Christenson was the pastor who performed the marriage ceremony for our son at Community Lutheran in Las Vegas in 1982.
God Bless You All
