Specific qualifications:

• A Masters degree is preferred but not required
• A background in education and or counseling, youth ministry, family studies, or similar field, experience preferred
• Youth and family counseling, decision making, referral skills and support services
• A sense of humor, energetic, caring, and open-minded
• TRUSTWORTHY: keep confidentiality and deal with issues and concerns directly with those involved
• Understands child development (at all ages), culture and trends
• An attitude of flexibility and adaptability in the face of the changing moods, schedules, and directions common to working with youth and families
• Relates well to all ages
• Theology and values are in harmony with the congregation's mission, vision, and values
• Advocates for youth and families, and their needs in the congregation and the community
• Able to commit to a continuity of leadership that would allow the ministry to be developed within three to five years
• Have a professional work ethic
• Commit to ongoing personal and professional growth

Develop and administer a diversified, appealing, balanced Christian youth and family program for all age groups.

Actively seek and encourage new and inactive youth members through activities and personal contact.

Coordinate regular ministry events for Children (K-5th ), and separate monthly events for Junior Youth (6th - 8th ) and Senior Youth (9th - 12th ).

Coordinate special programming such as, but not limited to: lock-ins, camp-outs, summer youth groups, sports events, concerts, etc.

Coordinate youth based worship not limited to, but including worship opportunities for youth and an annual service conducted by youth.

Coordinate the planning, registration, and fund-raising (as necessary) for youth and family activities.

Work with the Education Committee as a staff advisor for the Christian education programs of Mount Olive Lutheran Church to recruit coordinators of: Sunday School, Vacation Bible School , and the children's Christmas Program.

Encourage parental and congregational involvement in the youth program of mount Olive . Facilitate additional opportunities for parents and congregation members to gather together for mutual support and education.

Maintain an organized record of all events.

Counsel youth and families as situations arise.

Worship at Mt. Olive 's weekly worship services. Lead the worship once a month. Preach at the worship 4 times a year.

Carry out other duties as assigned, by supervisor.
